Host a College student for Holiday dinner: If you would host one or more students for Yom Kippur evening, please contact Linda Reece, Hillel Advisor.

HELP WITH AN EXCITING CHALLENGE We are planning to start a new campaign to raise additional funds for our Temple reconstruction by contacting some of the leading Jewish Philanthropists’ within North Carolina and the nation. To make this happen we are looking for volunteers with a variety of skills and the desire and the energy to make this effort a success. Call Murray Sherman to find out how you can join the team.

Summer Shabbat all at 8:00pm. During the summer, all of our Shabbat services, even the third Friday of each month, will start at 8 pm. Family/Chavurah Services, led by our Religious School classes, will resume in the fall.

The Men's club will produce the second annual DELI NIGHT on October 16th at Rosenthal Hall starting at 6:00 PM with a Havdalah service and a mouth savoring dinner commencing at 6:45. . Corned Beef, Pastrami, Tongue, Salami, the usual sides.The cost will be a surprisingly low $20.00 per person. We sold out last year. PLEASE MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE BY contacting Mike Bauman or Alan Katz. Bring guests if you want. If the demand is more than Rosenthal can accommodate, we will consider another venue if time permits.

This coming Friday’s Oneg will be hosted by Genie Lancaster, Jeanne & Irwin Lecker . Thank you to Renetta & Tom Vasos, Regina Harris for hosting last Friday’s Oneg.

Selichot: Discover The Power of Forgiveness: Join with Congregation B’nai Israel, (the Synagogue) in Temple of Israel’s Rosenthal Hall to prepare for Rosh Hashanah. On Saturday, September 4, starting at 7:30 pm, we will watch a movie about finding purpose in life, “Everything is Illuminated,” and then talk and pray about how to redirect our lives, led by Rabbis Waxman and Karz-Wagman. Everything Is Illuminated stars Elijah Wood, directed by Liev Schreiber. A young man, who collects family objects, takes a strange and unexpectedly funny journey in search of a family heroine he's never known. The woman saved the life of his grandfather during World War II, when the Nazis destroyed his Ukrainian town. Jonathan flies to the Ukraine, where with the help of two bizarre companions and a dog named Sammy Davis Junior Junior, he searches for the meaning of the present that lies buried in the past. Upcoming Events

Saturday Shabbat Service. Every Sat, a brief, but complete Shabbat morning service from 10 to 10:45 am in Rosenthal Hall. Followed by Torah Study. Snacks provided. Led by Rabbi Karz-Wagman.

From Melanie Frank, Chair of the Ritual Practices Committee. All members are reminded to dress appropriately when on the Bimah. The Ritual Practice Committee seeks the input of our members on Shabbat services and holiday events.
